Head of Kinoshita-Kabuki .
Born in Wakayama City in 1985. In 2006, while studying at Kyoto University of Art and Design (Currently known as Kyoto University of The Arts), he founded Kinoshita-Kabuki that specializes in the resvision and supervision of classical performances. His representative works include “Sannin Kichisa”, “Musume Dojoji”, and “Yoshitsune Senbonzakura – Tokaiya Daimotsunoura”.
In 2016, he received the Newcomer Award from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan Arts Festival for his work on Kanjincho. He also received the Encouragement Award at the 38th Kyoto Prefecture Culture Awards (2019). He also received the Kyoto City Newcomer Award in 2020. He was also a recipient of the Kyoto City Special Arts and Culture Encouragement Program in 2017.
He is currently active in a wide range of fields, including writing and lecturing on classical performing arts, as well as providing prosthetics for the Shibuya Cocoon Kabuki production “Kirare no Yozo” (2018). From 2024, he will be the artistic director of Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre (Nagano).

Kunio Sugihara [KUNIO]

Director and stage designer. Head of KUNIO.
In 2004, he launched the production company “KUNIO”. KUNIO’s previous works include “Angels in America Part 1: The Millennium Approaches” Part 2: Perestroika”, a new translation of the “Q1” version of “Hamlet”, the 10-hour masterpiece “Greeks”, and “Vacant Lot”, a vivid revival of the work of his university mentor, Shogo Ota. Recent major productions include PARCO PRODUCE 2024 “Tokyo Rondo”, KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater production “SHELL”, Kabukiza “New Suikoden”, Horipro “Blood Wedding”, COCOON PRODUCTION 2022/ NINAGAWA MEMORIAL “Pandora’s Bell”, and Saitama Gold Theater’s final performance “Water Station”. Received the 36th Kyoto Prefecture Cultural Encouragement Award.
