Birth of a New Stage Where Diverse Sensibilities Resonate With Each Other
Choreographer and dancer MORIYAMA Kaiji, the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, which is working to realize a society that coexists with performing arts, and KRIS Yoshie, the artistic director of “Slow Label,” an NPO that aims to create a diverse society through artistic expression activities, have teamed up to challenge the creation of a completely new concept that will open up the performing arts from diverse perspectives and sensibilities.
The stage of this story will be a steam locomotive called “Musica” that plays mysterious tones. The journey of Musica, a strange locomotive ridden by passengers full of idiosyncrasies who have gathered on it, is full of new encounters, discoveries and adventures. This is the birth of a new stage work that can be enjoyed visually and audibly, with all sensibilities, by children and adults.
WAGO Yui, who played “a small plane with one wing” in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, is also greatly increasing her presence as an actress. In addition, the 23 amazing members of the cast include actor OKAYAMA Amane, who stands out thanks to his unique charm and acting skills, musician SAKAMOTO Miu, a multi-talented singer who has a beautiful singing voice and intellectual and cheerful charm, KAZUKI, a deaf actor and performer who produces rich performances utilizing the expression of sign language, and talent and singer HARUNA Ai who has gained popularity nationwide because of her attractive singing voice and personality, and her impersonations from which she got her first big break. The core of the stage is made up of OMAE Koichi, who has a presence in dance that is second to none because of his artificial legs, KAJIMOTO Mizuki, a dancer who has played leading roles in movies and on stage, and who gives remarkable performances by changing her hearing impairment into a personality, and a dance group also made up of ASANUMA Kei, OGAWA Riku, KAJITA Rui, MIZUSHIMA Kotaro, MINAMI Honoka, and other wonderful dancers who have both charm and talent and an overwhelming physical expression. In addition to TANAKA Yuka, who is active as a stage sign language interpreter and actress, following public auditions the performance will be rich and diverse with amazing performers that have been gathered together, regardless disability, such as unicycle artists, improvisation dancers, and more. In addition, a world brimming with imagination will be created by a team of wonderful creators: Production and choreography by MORIYAMA Kaiji, music by HASUNUMA Shuta, screenplay and script by MIURA Naoyuki.
This fall, with the Deaflympics and the World Athletic Championships being held in Tokyo, the bonds of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Opening Ceremony will bloom. Please look forward to the birth of a new stage performance where diverse sensibilities will resonate.
