Join us at the theater to teach robot what it means to be human.

AI is rapidly becoming part of our daily lives, transforming everything from how we live to how we communicate. How should humans engage with these technologies, which are composed of humanity's collective words and expressions? This question is already firmly present in our everyday lives, and will only grow more complex in the future. The children who will help shape the society of tomorrow will be called upon to engage with this challenge throughout their lives in a way that modern adults may not.

Created in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Pijin Neji and the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media [YCAM], this performance piece is open to children in fourth grade elementary or above.
After beginning his career as a dancer with the dance company Dairakudakan, Neji went on to create works that explore the body through the interplay of voice and movement. Serving as both director and choreographer, he presents a classroom where AI, robots, and humans learn together through the act of “generation.”

The robots, seated at desks in a classroom-like setting, invite us: “You can talk to us anytime.” Through exchanges with the audience and the robot "Sensei (teacher)"—via questions such as “What does seawater taste like?” or “What does it feel like to have a pounding heart?”—the robots accumulate knowledge. Eventually, they begin to “teach” the class themselves, transforming the space into a whirlwind of communication among AI systems. When that moment arrives, how will we experience what unfolds before us?

* Tickets with age-based discounts are available in advance only through the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Box Office (limited quantities available; valid ID required on the day of the performance).
* We cannot provide a refund for the difference if you are eligible for an age discount but you purchase a general admission ticket. In addition, if you purchase a discounted ticket that you are not eligible for, then you will be asked to pay the difference at the reception counter on the day of the performance.
